Rufus Reid video series now on JazzDoubleBass.com

Over the summer we blogged about JazzDoubleBass.com, a new project started by Tyrone Bishop. This site features forums, interviews, and other resources for the jazz bassist. The Contrabass Conversations podcasts has a dedicated forum at this site as well, so check it out if you get a chance and chat with other jazz bassists around the world.

This very cool project has just officially launched with a great series of videos recorded in Ireland with jazz giant Rufus Reid. Tom Hill interviews Rufus about his new recordings, bass setup, tips for up-and-coming bassists, and much more. Check out the first part of the series here:

By the way, did you know that Rufus went to Northwestern University in Evanston (bass blog HQ)? He played for a jazz festival when I was in college. I was the bassist for the top jazz band, and he played a series of his own tunes as soloist, which was a real blast. He was one of the most kind and gracious people I have ever met, taking time to chat with the bass players, take us out for coffee, and give us some recordings. He is a genuinely great person.
