Musical Guest: Time for Three

Zachary De Pue - Violin, Nick Kendall - Violin, Ranaan Meyer - Double Bass

A young, dynamic trio of classically trained string musicians, Time for Three transcends traditional performance genres. In concert, a blue-grass standard like Orange Blossom Special may be followed by a gypsy-tinged Csardas. Tf3 is equally comfortable offering their own arrangements of shorter classical works and popular hits, whether Brahms or the Beatles. They continue to write and arrange all manner of music, and have begun a major commissioning program to expand their unique repertoire for both symphony orchestras and concert series. Among forthcoming projects, Jennifer Higdon is writing a new work for Tf3, to be premiered by the Philadelphia Orchestra in January of 2008. Graduates of Philadelphia’s venerable Curtis Institute of Music, Tf3’s members, though still in their late twenties, have performed with many of the world’s preeminent conductors and orchestras. Playing 120 concerts each year, Tf3 continues to win over widely diverse audiences across America, including through their enthusiastically received school and community outreach programs, which they view as a central part of their mission. Tf3 currently has two available CDs, with a third release, Three Fervent Travelers, scheduled for the spring. They have also recorded the soundtrack to the History Channel’s Spanish-American War, airing nationally this spring.
