There is a new bass ensemble that formed recently here in Chicago. It is an extremely high quality quartet composed of four people that I consider good friends and colleagues. The members of the new Chicago Bass Ensemble include Jacque Harper, who I have known for 12 years and who has been a clinician at the Whitewater Winter Bassfest, Michael Hovnanian (Chicago Symphony, CSO Bass Blog, Gunnelpumpers), Doug Johnson (Gunnelpumpers–long-time friend and colleague of mine as well), and John Floeter, who is my stand partner in the Elgin Symphony, a member of the Grant Park Symphony, and the bass instructor at Northern Illinois University.

Check out their website at chicagobassensemble.com. I will also put them in my blogroll on the sidebar under non-blog bass sites. They are in the process of putting together a CD, so stay tuned for that and for more from this cool new group.
